2018 Synergy Schools Solar Challenge

Get your students involved in a hands-on solar energy initiative...

Developed in partnership with the Science Teachers Association of WA (STAWA), we are pleased to announce that Synergy Schools Solar Challenge is back again for 2018!

Open to years 6 and 8 within the WA metro area, schools have the chance to take part in a free resourced, hands on energy initiative that gives students the opportunity to build their own solar powered cars - before they put their knowledge to the test in a fun race against schools all over Perth and Bunbury.

It's fun, it's engaging - and it's fully resourced

Registration for the 2018 Synergy Schools Solar Challenge has now closed.
For schools who have registered, we'll be in touch shortly.

Register your school

Thank you for those who have registered to be involved in the 2018 Synergy Schools Solar Challenge. Registration is now closed.

Receive a school pack

Once registered, schools will receive their solar car kits along with support material to allow students to put their knowledge into practice.

Competition takes place

Four events will be held in term one 2018 and will cover north, south, west and east of Perth - along with heats in Bunbury.

Grand final event

The winning Year 6 and Year 8 team from each event will go straight through to the grand final, to be held at the end of term one.

Student feedback from the project has been really positive - they've enjoyed changing variables and understanding how that affects the results, they've enjoyed taking a break from the heavy content that sometimes is associated with school, and lastly, just getting their hands in amongst a task and trying to improve their car to make it go as fast as possible - they've loved it.
